Children of a Lesser Goddess
One-Woman Show Written & Performed by Dorothy Spirus Directed by Mike Ross
Is it the scent of mousakka wafting out onto Melrose Avenue or the seeking of the Goddess's guidance that brings you to her makeshift temple? Either way, you're in for a good time. Not just relying on her own words of wisdom, the Goddess introduces an array of characters (as varied and colorful as a Greek appetizer plate) to help you make sense of life's dilemmas. This evening of theatrical comedy features Spirus’s original characters, many of which she developed while performing at The Second City Theatre in West Hollywood. This show played to capacity crowds when it debuted at the Found Theatre in Long Beach, followed by performances in Orange County and at the Pan Andreas Theatre in Hollywood. Smart! Funny! Fresh! Here's what some really smart people had to say about the show: “Dorothy Spirus is an absolute gem! Her very funny one-woman show CHILDREN OF A LESSER GODDESS is filled with hilarious characters and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Dorothy is a talented artist with a strong voice, a tremendous heart and razor-sharp insight.” – Amy Seeley Comedy writing instructor & director The Second City Los Angeles
“Spirus’s wit, delivery, and contemporary material are not to be missed.” – Alexia Haidos, filmmaker
"Dorothy Spirus has reinvented the laugh-line. Her show rocked my tube socks." – Amber Tamblyn, Actress, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"
"Spirus is very funny...." -- Random Lengths News

Comment by GUEST on 2008-07-16 17:22:27 I laughed; I cried and then laughed until I cried. Dorothy Spirus is simply awesome in her performance. The difficulty of a One Woman Show can strike fear into the hearts of the most seasoned actors. Dorothy Spirus pulls it off with an amazing twist; she implements several unique characters into the mix, along with comedy. Children of a Lesser Goddess is a journey and in order to experience it you must secure a ticket for the ride of your life. Thanks Dorothy for an opportunity to forget about all my problems and laugh, not just laugh but belly laugh. Thanks for being genuine in your performance, and real in who you are, I was able to feel that. Thanks for the HUG!!!! Ron Roberson Anchor, CNN Headline News "Local Edition" So Cal News

You'll love her, you'll laugh with her, you'll cry and then laugh. A grand time. Gretchen Swanson Long Beach, CA | |
